The Gaucho, is the South America Cowboy. And although they are not as predominate as they once were throughout the ‘Pampas’ of Argentina, their most prized possession was, and still remains today, is his knife! The Gauchos were known for never carrying a gun, only his ‘Cuchillo’ knife. It was his only tool and used for everything; from cleaning his horses hooves, cutting his steak, even settling a disagreement. Their knives were fondly referred to as 'The Peacemaker' !

This knife has a stunningly simple design of exotic South America Guayacan wood, heavy polished bone and solid brass accents. The butt end of handle measures just shy of 4” in circumference, which tappers to the bolster. Entire length of handle measures 6.5”. Its blade is a smooth polished stainless steel, full tang, hand forged Pamanea blade, crafted of 440 stainless steel with convex edge. Measures 5.5” from blade tip to bolster. Select from two blade brands, Scmieden or Pamaena as well as sheath cover style.

Guayacan wood is considered an exotic wood and is extremely durable, especially against weather, moisture, rot and abrasions…. Guayacona tree, wood or 'Lignum vitae wood', when translated from Spanish means 'Tree of Life' or 'Holy Wood'. Within the wood industries it is also referred to as 'Ironwood' because its density. 'Guay wood' has moisture barrier properties and is among one of the hardest of woods products around the world, it is especially well suited for handmade knife handles.
